One of Northeast Ohio’s most popular and respected chefs, Chef John DeJoy has cultivated
a loyal following among critics and food lovers alike during his long tenure atop the local
dining scene. A native and longtime resident of Lake County, DeJoy is one of only a few
area chefs who hail from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park,
New York. The CIA is widely regarded as America’s foremost culinary academy and
one of the world’s leading culinary educational institutions. DeJoy also holds a B.A.
in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA.
From 2000 to 2005, DeJoy and his wife Michelle operated the original
John Palmer’s in Chardon. Now relocated to bustling, upscale Concord
Township, John Palmer’s Bistro 44 represents the natural evolution of
their original success and raises the bar for quality food and seamless
service in this area. Prior to opening John Palmer’s, DeJoy served as
executive chef at J Gilbert’s Wood-Fried Steaks. He also has held a
variety of positions for the award-winning Johnny’s Bar and Johnny's
Downtown, as well as the Stouffer Riveare Hotel in Chicago.
DeJoy is the recipient of several awards, including Wine Spectator’s
Award of Excellence from 2001-2004 and the International
Restaurant Association Award of Excellence in 2001. He has also
has received rave reviews in numerous publications, including the
Plain Dealer, News-Herald, Scene Magazine, The Lake County
Business Journal and USA Today.
